Be Healthy in 2010

Be Healthy in 2010

If you’re like many people, you’d love to be a healthy person. However, most people have an ache, a pain or just don’t feel well or energetic.  People aggressively search the internet for ways to feel better. Promises for a fix for your health are on every page with a “special product” that will take care of your problem. Let’s break it down and see if we can find a more simple solution.

For most people, getting healthy usually means attending to a few basic steps such as eating better food, getting some regular exercise, obtaining adequate rest and addressing various ailments and symptoms that have started to bother you. Unfortunately, most people want to sit back and let health come to them. They usually don’t want to take the initiative to get healthy.

Let’s take eating better for example. There’s no real mystery any more about which foods you should eat.  Fresh fruits and vegetables are good and fast food is usually bad, even some of the fast foods advertised as the so called “healthier options.”  When you are snacking on potato chips, you can’t honestly be telling yourself “I sure am eating healthy.” Eating healthy foods and planning your meals ahead of time requires effort.  One important guideline to remember is to avoid grocery shopping when you are hungry.  This usually results in making the wrong food choices; which in turn, will become a deterrent in planning healthy meals at home.Blood Pressure Check

There is no secret to exercise either. Remember those belts that people used to strap around their waist and get shaken into better health? You don’t see them anymore because exercise really is not a passive thing. You’ve got to get out of your chair and regularly move around.  You’ll need to exert a little effort if you want to see results.
Here’s the good news for those people that want to do something healthy, 2010 is the start of a new year and you can take charge of your health. Here are a few things you can do to improve your health:

  1. Eat well.  Fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet will make you feel better by reducing the inflammation in your body. Also, take the proper supplements. We now know that fish oils and Vitamin D are very important to your long term health.
  2. Sleep well.  As a culture we are exhausted.  Take time to get the rest you need.
  3. Exercise well.  Regarding joint mobility and function, if you don’t move it you will lose it. So make a plan to move your body more in 2010.
  4. See your chiropractor. A spinal checkup will ensure that your spine joints are properly functioning and when they do, you will feel better.  Plus, your chiropractor can advise you specifically regarding sleep, nutrition and exercise specific to your age and fitness level.
So, make 2010 work for you.  See your chiropractor and form a plan to eat better, get plenty of exercise and get adequate of rest.  You will be impressed with the difference attending to those four “Keys to Health” will make in your life.
